Lovie Phillips, God Loves Kids founder, first began seeking sponsors for the children in India over thirty years ago. The extreme poverty and hunger of children begging on the streets, captured Lovie’s heart to take action.

God Loves Kids started to raise support for the children at the school in Maslandapur, India. This school was first established in March 4, 1982. It began with 25 students, and three employees. At that time, there were only three classes - nursery, kindergarten and grade one. The classes were taught under a tree because the school did not have a building.

In 1983, class 2 was started and each subsequent year an additional class was added. In 1989, classrooms were built. At present, the school is running smoothly with a total of 371 students, one headmaster, 11 teachers and 13 non-teaching staff.

The Calcutta School is a day school; the children attend during the day and return to their homes at night. Instead of living on the streets or working in fields, The Calcutta School children are given an oppurtinity to attend an excellent Christian school that provides food and a safe environment for them to learn.
